Upcoming Engraving Events

Many of you have asked to be informed about when I will be engraving at various stores.  These are fragrance events – engraving is free with the purchase of qualifying fragrance products.  If you would like engraving on any other items, just contact me at 320-583-9100 and arrange a time to drop off and pick-up your items.  Remember I can beautifully personalize any glass, metal, crystal, or pottery gifts!  The perfect remembrance!

Wedding Vase

There’s a cute little shop in Marshall, Minnesota who has started carrying my items.  It’s called Blue Green Floral and it’s a great little florist shop featuring the Green Door Gallery where my friend Sandy and I were featured artists in February.

Our joint venture is called Defying Gravity Design and we make an eclectic assortment of mosaic, digital prints, decoupage, altered art and whatever suits our fancy.

One of my items is custom engraving on glass. Since it’s a flower shop, they use a lot of vases and asked if I could design a beautiful piece for the wedding show they have coming up.  I love to engrave in circles, so I simply took a phrase and did it in a circular design.  The engraving is filled with silver and would make a stunning keepsake.  I can personalize items as well, so I could see the Bride and Groom’s names and date on the bottom of this vase.

The Art of Beautiful Lettering

Calligraphy, the Art of Beautiful Lettering, is an ancient art form with records dating back to 213 B.C. The word “calligraphy” is derived from two Greek words: “kalos” meaning fine, and “grapho” to write. With the early use of reeds and brushes, and the evolution of illumination, calligraphy quickly developed into an early art form.

Now is your chance to learn this beautiful art form.  I will be teaching a beginning Italic Lettering class through Hutchinson Community Education on February 2, 9, and 16 from 6:30 PM – 8 PM.  Join us for three evenings of instruction, practice and fun.  Learn the basic letter forms and how to join them together into words and phrases.  This class will concentrate on the letters, not working with ink and we will use Zig Calligraphy Markers to ‘make our mark’.  I will have markers and practice pads available for purchase at class.

Register by calling Hutchinson Community Education at 320.587.2975.  Classes are held at the Middle School – room 305 and cost $45 for the series.

Guns and Knives and Flasks – oh my!

This pretty writing is not just for girly things!  I do a lot of work engraving manly things as well.  Every year I do quite a few guns – as rewards or auction items for preservation groups, or as a special gift from Grandfather to Grandson.

Knives are given as right-of-passage gifts or just to identify that special pocket knife.  I’ve done multi-tools like Leathermans.

Popular items for groomsman gifts are flasks, mugs, beer steins – even custom whiskey-bottle glasses – to commemorate a special blend.

Scent Events!

‘Tis the season for “scent events”!  These are special days in local department stores where the engraving is FREE!  Simply purchase your favorite men’s or ladies’ scent, and I will personalize it for you – your special gift!

I hand-engrave beautiful, Copperplate Calligraphy words and phrases very deeply into the actual glass bottle.  I then fill the letters with a beautiful gold or silver finish and buff it to a shine!  You have a very special, personalized gift for your loved one (or your boss)!
