Merry Christmas!

This season give your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance.  To a friend, your heart.  To a customer, service.  To every child, a good example.  To all, charity.  For Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind.  To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, this is the real spirit of Christmas.   ~ Oren Arnold

Merry Christmas!  My wish for you is that the spirit of the season carry on throughout the year.  Sharing, loving, giving, are not intended to be put away and simply pulled out once a year like lights and ornaments.  Let them be prevalent and contagious in your daily life. The greatest gift is not found in a store nor under a tree, but in the kindness and love given to others year round.

2012 is soon upon us.  I want you to know how much I value your support and love. As a song from the movie White Christmas shares “If you’re worried and can’t sleep, count your blessings instead of sheep.”

Thank you for being with me in 2011.  May your blessings be abundant in 2012.

’tis the season for love…

Got a wedding, engagement or anniversary to celebrate?  This beautiful gallery-mount print would be the perfect keepsake or gift!

I create these pieces of digital art in our amazing Heritage Makers studio using your photo and words, then mount the print on a cradled art board.  It is 11″ x 14″ and site 3/4″ out from the wall when hung.  It could also be propped on a shelf or used in a grouping.

The background is layered and textured white papers, with the beautiful love motif and a name and date.  Price is $36 plus shipping and you can purchase it from my ETSY store here.

I love designing and enjoy working with people to create incredible gifts and keepsakes.

Here’s another version – see how custom it can be?

Namaste

Namaste. The Goddess Spirit within me recognizes and honors the Goddess Spirit within you.

I guess I’m feeling peaceful and reverent this morning.  I created this piece and immediately posted it on ETSY.

I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace.
When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me,
We are One.

This quote, meaning: “I bow to the divine in you” is a traditional Indian greeting of respect and thank you, with spiritual and symbolic meaning. This beautiful print is created in shades of yellow, teal, orange and brown with peaceful, flowing lettering and multi-layered graphics.

When the creative urge hits, I need to act.  Now off to more strenuous things.  Like cleaning.

I need to do more of this

A good Neapolitan pizza is a thing of spartan beauty: minimal ingredients that are fresh, stand out, and come together in a way that transcends food and art and beauty — it’s an act of pure love.

My favorite is the Margherita. A simple crust is hand-made, hand-stretched, spread thinly with fresh tomato sauce, with chunks of mozzarella and sprigs of basil strewn about its surface, finished off with a drizzle of perfect olive oil. It goes into an incredibly hot wood oven, where the crust blisters in 60 seconds and, in that briefest moment of purity by fire, a miracle occurs.

The miracle is that these simple ingredients — flour, water, tomatoes, cheese, basil, oil, salt — become the most heavenly substance in the universe: love.

Each ingredient, because it’s not overwhelmed by a smorgasbord of toppings (sausages and four kinds of cheese and caramelized onions and Thai chicken and broccoli or what have you), can be tasted distinctly and appreciated for its simple beauty. Having fewer ingredients allows each to assert itself.

But they also come together in an act of perfect unity, and this shows what minimalism is about. A few things of beauty, when stripped of the extraneous, are allowed to breathe, to shine, to then create a whole that is better than a whole of too many less important things.

This is true of pizza, but also of work and life. Cut back to a few important tasks and your work will be transformed. Do only a few things in life and those things will breathe and take on an importance they never had before. They will create a life that is not only better but is a truer expression of yourself not possible without minimalism.

Minimalism allows your life to be an act of love.

For your Valentine or great friend…

I believe in miracles.  I really do.  I have seen them and felt them and experienced them.  And love is always the catalyst.

Where there is great love there are always miracles.
- Willa Cather

Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love.
The real miracle is the love that inspires them.
In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle.
- Marianne Williamson

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart.
- Helen Keller

Today… Give thanks for the miracles – Give thanks for the love.
